What existed in the Middle Horizon landscape? The landscape for Middle Horizon populations developed into a highly complex setting. Archaeological investigations indicate technological expertise in craft production, urban planning, political control, economic management and vast systems of transport or trade. This research page explores the artifactual representation of human activity as displayed in artistic depictions, architecture, tools and everyday items. Artifactual remains also document the belief systems such as religions and cults as well as knowledge based systems of accounting and information storage of these populations. The category 'mindscape' is applied to such data to represent artistic expression, documentation and stylistic responses to human interaction with the landscape. |
